Ten minutes by car from Tonosho Port.Past the houses of Fuchizaki,a cherry branch leans over the bamboo fence.
For many years, this house was a tea room.People stepped through the noren, took a seat,had a cup of tea, and went home.
The noren still hangs today.But for one party a day, and no one else.The round-window seat, the garden, the bath — all yours.
Set the iron kettle on the fire,and watch the camellias while it comes to a boil.An island tea room, open today for one.
About the House
North Shodoshima, Fuchizaki, Tonosho.On the road that climbs to Kankakeistands an old tea room with sukiya eaves.
The iron kettle, the green teapot, the blue-and-white cups —all still on the shelves, just as the former owner left them.Only the bathrooms and the bedroom were touched.
The noren goes up for one party a day.Tea room, garden, bath and futon,made ready for today's guest.
